Short Bio
I am a colored pencil and pastel artist based in East Texas and an active member of the Lufkin Art Guild. I am a retired science teacher filling my time with learning new media and techniques.
Statement
I was born in Lufkin, lived in Lufkin most of my life, and graduated from Lufkin High School where I taught biology, anatomy & physiology, forensic science, and a few others. I retired 5 years ago after 30 years of teaching. Now I have more time to enjoy creating art. I consider myself a colored pencil and pastel artist and recently, I have been experimenting with watercolor and gouache. I am a “wannabe” photographer because I am always on the lookout for scenes in nature to draw. I have been a member of Lufkin Art Guild since 2012.
Peek-a-Boo Cardinal (2014) is my oldest piece. I like it because of the bird’s posture. My favorite is Red Deer Hinds is a pastel from a photo I took at Fossil Rim Wildlife Park in Glen Rose, Texas. It’s probably my favorite because I took my son there with me for his 30th birthday and it reminds me of the good time we had that day.
